What’s your show about and what inspired it?
To(i)let is a show about an abusive romantic relationship. It’s based on a true story, my story. It’s a story about abuse, sexual assaults and manipulation but also about connection and belongingness.
People still suffer, people still force their power onto others- often unaware of their own wounds. We need a revolution, and my revolution starts from art and the theatre.
The play is inspired by the screenwriter’s life experiences. The production features the actress Keenan Denton, Esther Williams, Miona Drcelic.
Why should someone book to see your show and what might they expect?
The show is about a relevant topic in today post me-too movement: now people are aware of abuse but this still plays out in romantic relationships . It’s based on a true story.
Sever charities and government initiatives are attempting in fighting these patterns, but it seems to be never enough.
The aim of the play is to rise awareness on a topic that unfortunately is still present in many relationship dynamics. This play wants to give to everyone a pair of lenses that can help to recognise the abuse.
How did you make your start in the business?
Art is always be an integral part of my life. I started writing poems and songs when I was eight years old.
Then seven years ago I started writing plays, doing theatre, Improvised theatre and clowning.
Do you have a favourite type of venue to work in?
Usually I prefer not to bring this play in big venues. This is because I like to create an intimate place. The show is a moment of connection where the characters bring a story alive to for the spectators.
What’s next for the show?
After the Camden Fringe the hope is to continue touring with the show, improving it, trying to reach more people and raise more and more awareness.
