What can you tell us about the step-dog in your sensational show?
Well, she’s sat on my foot as I write this, for starters. She’s my girlfriend’s dog and she’s called Sophie Ellis Barkster.
She is so cute but so evil. She looks like she’d be in Crufts and acts like she’d be in ISIS.
What can audiences expect from Crisps and a Lie Down?
They can expect an hour jam-packed with jokes and ideas about where I’m at in life.
It’s a good mix of broader more relatable routines and personal idiosyncratic anecdotes, I hope!
How did you get your start as a performer? Do you find Fringe festivals inspiring?
I never stepped foot on a stage until I did The Stand’s new act night Red Raw in Edinburgh.
I was so nervous I was shaking with the microphone firmly wedged into my chest, afterwards the tech told me almost no-one could hear as I wasn’t speaking into the mic.
I do find Fringe festivals inspiring, seeing peers who are consistently producing great shows and challenging themselves forces you to try to improve.
What are you looking forward to the most at Edinburgh?
Doing my show every day and seeing my mates.
Where can we see your work after Fringe?
I may tour the show nationally, though this is not confirmed yet. I’ll probably eventually film it and put it on Youtube.
And you can follow me on instagram @stuartmcpherson_ and listen to the podcast I co-host Some Laugh.
