That’ll Be The Day, the popular rock ‘n’ roll concert, stopped off at the London Palladium last night as part of its 40th Anniversary Tour (running until June 2026).
Guest reviewer Helen Cox was there.
Trevor Payne is the director, producer and main vocalist. Together with his ensemble of talented singers and musicians he put on a very enjoyable show, paying homage to the legends of past decades.
That’ll Be The Day begins with the fabulous 50s and goes all the way to the pop era of the 80s.

The songs come thick and fast. The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, Tina Turner, Lulu, Blondie, Madonna and many more are recalled and celebated,
Alongside the timeless music, the show’s trademark comedy and impressions keep the audience laughing throughout.
A screen at the back of the stage was very much part of the production, with images from the past, amusing comedy sketches, and dedications from the likes of Hank Marvin and Cliff Richard, wishing Trevor all the best with this, his farewell tour.

Guest star Tom Ball, of Britain’s Got Talent fame, sang his charity song for Make a Wish with a group of children. Up to 18 performers were involved in this concert, and from our seats in the gods the colourful costumes and sharp sound were appreciated.
This is a quality production which lasts a whopping 3 and a half hours including an interval. It’s a nostalgic journey of music and culture through the ages. A must-see for anyone who loves all eras of rock ‘n’ roll and pop music.

The cast for That’ll Be The Day includes Gary Anderson, Nikki Hechavarria, Lorry Anderson, Eduardo Neto, Ollie Gray, Mark Street, Jarrod Loughlin, Jodie Lawson and Sean McAusland.
It may be a tad too long for some, but overall, a really good and enjoyable show.
