Tell me a bit about the show? Where did the idea come from?

The idea for the show came about during our final year at drama school. We were tasked with devising a thirty-minute show from scratch and after extensive conversation, landed on the idea of fate as a core concept to build the story around.

Conversations emerged about profound or spiritual experiences we had all had and it became very apparent we would be making a play about an unhuman or ethereal being.

Why should audiences choose your show? How would you sell it in one sentence?

This play is an exploratory study of the downfall of the bourgeoisie, if you liked the eccentricity of Saltburn and the ambivalence of Coraline, then you’ll love The Absence of Aunt Greta.

What does being part of Voila! Festival mean to you?

As our cast comprises of artists from several different nations and backgrounds it feels a fitting piece to be a part of this diverse, experimental theatre festival.

It has been both a challenge and privilege to re-visit this piece post drama school and develop it further with one another.

Working and organising nine busy actors who all have other commitments along- side this project has been no mean feat, so to have created the piece that we have is something we are all proud of doing.

How did you make a start in the industry?

All of the company members have had their own approach to finding their way in the industry.

Some were fortunate to sign with acting agencies soon after graduating while others are moving away from performing, making inroads in marketing, producing, writing and music.

However, something which we have all discovered is that there is no right way of forging a career within this industry, every approach is valid according to the individual.

What’s next for the show?

The outlook for the show is currently unknown. As previously mentioned, we are a busy company, with differing goals and ever -changing schedules.

Conversations surrounding a site specific/ immersive version of the show have been had but whether or not this comes to fruition will depend greatly on the availability and direction that the company decide to go in after this November run.
