Your show is a comedy rock musical. Sounds fun! What’s it all about?
Nuns of Fury is all about a trio of ass-kicking nuns who plunder old Catholic relics from private collections and museums to return them to the poor.
Two treasure-hunting gangsters come up against them, and make it their mission to take the nuns down by preying on their weaknesses…
The nuns have to embrace the bonds of sisterhood and rediscover the true faith – faith in yourself.
Nuns and musicals mean Nunsense to many people. What should audiences expect from yours and why should they come to see it?
We pride ourselves at Rocket Whip on producing musical theatre for people who aren’t fans of musical theatre!
If you’re a fan of slapstick comedy and self-aware humour, you’ll enjoy this show. We aim to always produce a fun night out – our cast of nuns is a fantastic way to fit even more puns in!
For anyone who does know their stuff about Catholicism, there are some references and easter eggs you’ll enjoy – but the show is really about the universal language of cheekiness and toe-tapping rock’n’roll.
How did you first start performing?
We’ve been going as a company for five years now, and are super excited for our first ever EdFringe show.Â
Nuns of Fury has been performed previously as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe – our home turf! – but we have a series of other colourful original musicals behind us.
Rocket Whip is really built on friends coming together with a shared vision of getting hesitant audiences to love the theatre.
We’re really proud of what we’ve been able to produce with only can-do attitudes and a few guitars!
We have an untraditional, but whole-hearted approach, which is on full display in this show.
What are you looking forward to in Edinburgh?
We’re most looking forward to being able to connect with artists beyond Greater Manchester – EdFringe is a real mixing pot for all kinds of artists, and we want to experience as much as possible so we can expand our own repertoire and grow.
So excited to meet people and absorb so much new art.
What’s next for the show?
Heaven’s the limit for the Nuns of Fury! We’d love to grow our show even more from our EdFringe run and see about any other touring opportunities to get our work out there.
