What’s your show about and what inspired it?
Wakaresaseya or How to End Things is a dark comedy that flips the rom-com script on its head. The story follows Mia and Iago, who get a new flatmate named Seb – the type who cooks dinner wearing only a robe with nothing underneath.
While Seb has many secrets, Mia and Iago have even more. It’s about how sometimes two isn’t enough and explores how flatsharing can get complicated – imagine your typical love triangle, but with a twist.
We were inspired by how relationships are increasingly complex in our modern world, especially those mediated through technology and apps.
The show explores contemporary love, communication, and the absurd lengths we go to avoid uncomfortable truths and confrontation.
Why should someone book to see your show and what might they expect?
Audiences can expect a sharp, twisted, fast-paced and slightly wacky 45-minute experience that blends humor, multimedia elements, and secrets. We’re passionate about creating theatre that entertains while exploring the messier sides of human nature.
Our previous audiences have described it as “a play that keeps you on edge and also tickles you with the wittiness throughout,” “a mad cap ride that leaves the audience thrilled, shocked and in love with the characters,” and something “lively, full of humorous human weaknesses which lead to twists and turns.”
We sold out at the Lambeth Fringe, so we know audiences connect with what we’re doing.
How did you make your start in the business?
BuildingRockets Theatre Company formed when three drama graduates from Drama Studio London – a German, a Spaniard, and a Chinese – came together in London.
We were united by our shared love of the arts and decided to blend our unique cultures, creativity, and perspectives into exciting theatre.
Our international backgrounds bring a fresh perspective to London’s theatre scene, and we’re passionate about creating bold, original storytelling.
Do you have a favourite type of venue to work in?
We’re performing at The Courtyard Theatre for the Camden Fringe Festival, and we had our previous successful run at the Lambeth Fringe.
We enjoy working in intimate venues like Fringe festival environments where we can connect directly with audiences looking for fresh, original work.
What’s next for the show?
Right now we’re focused on our Camden Fringe run from August 7-9, 2025. And we’re excited to see where the momentum takes us next.
We’re always working on new projects and looking for opportunities to shake up the stage, one performance at a time.
