Welcome back to our series about cheap seat options available in the West End and slightly beyond.. This week, we are at one of the West End’s nicest houses, the Wyndham’s next to Leicester Square Station.
Show and venue
Oedipus, Wyndham’s Theatre, £45
Seat
Booked Grand Circle B15
Expectation
Although high up, these seats are fairly central and close to the stage, which may explain the pricing being towards the higher end of ‘cheap’.
There was no restriction declared, and I deliberately chose this row over A in front for additional legroom. These are seats I have bought before, so I knew they would be good.
Reality
This production is very detailed but doesn’t have staging at the extreme edges or too near the front. I wasn’t aware of missing anything during the play and was thoroughly engrossed in the action.
The sound and seat comfort were also excellent. If you can cope with the height when you take your seat (not suitable for vertigo sufferers) you will have a satisfying experience here.
Evidence
My photo before the curtain goes up shows the height of the Grand Circle and the view of the prosenium:

I took a photo at curtain call to give an idea of what you see on stage, including the extreme edges:
