Plays from the cheap seats

The latest in our series features a play that has polarised audiences with its deception and ‘play within a play’ structure.

I was pleased to get a ticket at a 38% reduction for this show, which has transferred to the West End from the Almeida.

Show and venue

A Mirror at Trafalgar Theatre – £25 ticket (face value £65)

Seat

Dress circle G 6

Expectation

I’d heard legroom might be minimal in this row and have not been up here before, so I wasn’t sure about raking.

I knew the seat was central, so I would have no restrictions as to what was on stage.

Reality

Legroom was fine – I’m 5ft 5in so on the shorter side – and the view was excellent. There is some activity in the stalls that I couldn’t see, but that’s true for the whole circle.

No problems at all with vision as the seats are well-positioned on a generous rake. And very comfortable for a two-hour show which has no interval.

Evidence

This was my view before the show started:
