This was a very strong year for both digital theatre originals and livestreams, which allowed coverage beyond the UK for the fourth year running.
LouReviews is a big supporter of theatre both on stage and off, and as a film review site as well, it is important that we retain a strong digital theatre component.
Some theatres almost always provide digital versions of their shows (Orange Tree Theatre, The Space), while many festivals retain a digital component (Edinburgh Fringe).
Making content available in this way allows smaller venues to reach a wider audience while viewers can experience shows from other countries.
My pick of digital shows this year are:
Lady Inger at The Space
The Changeling by Lazarus Theatre
Should I Swallow at National Women’s Theatre Festival
Caliban’s Codex at Ukraine Fringe
Why Am I Like This? at Edinburgh Fringe
Life Learnings of a Nonsensical Human at Edinburgh Fringe
Eat Me at Edinburgh Fringe
Moon Glo at National Women’s Theatre Festival
A Cold Supper Behind Harrods by Original Theatre
Destiny by Pentabus Theatre
The Real Black Swann at Gotham Storytelling Festival
Notre Dame by Threedumb Theatre
Oubilette at The Space
Hamlet at Bristol Old Vic
Easy to Break Something at Ukraine Fringe
