A Rather English Marriage, 1998 – ★★★★½

A touching and amusing tale of friendship between a squadron leader (Albert Finney) and a widowed milkman (Tom Courtenay) simply gives us excellent writing and a masterclass in acting. Joanna Lumley also impresses as the shop-owner who is looking for money over love.

Wonderfully filmed, with good use of music and flashbacks, this story is completely convincing and completely English.
