Cameron, you’re a poet and singer; Guillermo, you’re a pianist and composer. What brought you together to create this show?

Cameron: Guillermo and I have always wanted to collaborate artistically ever since meeting in 2023. I am always on the search for fellow musicians, particularly instrumentalists, to create with.

Guillermo is the perfect mix of theatrical knowledge and virtuosic musicianship that I was looking for in a collaboration.

Guillermo: We went through so many ideas during that time, although the concept of mixing poetry and song in the same show always remained.

It was during this summer that Cameron approached me and suggested building a repertoire made of musical theatre and American spirituals, and a light bulb literally went on in my head — that was it!

I’m so looking forward to letting audiences experience and hopefully enjoy what we’ve put together.

The beauty and soulfulness of every piece, blended with Cameron’s astounding vocals, will certainly regale them with something truly unique.

Wondering Soul promises stories, songs and spirituality. How would each of you describe it in one sentence for your audience?

Cameron: “An evening of curiosity and discovery by way of the mind and soul.”

Guillermo: “A night of heartfelt artistry”.

Crazy Coqs is a stunning cabaret venue. Do you relish the intimacy it offers when performing, and do you have any stories about doing cabaret shows?

Cameron: I have dined in Brasserie Zédel many times and always knew of Crazy Coqs. As an overall establishment I love how the two venues (plus Bar Américain) embody a richness and a depth that speaks to me as an artist.

There is something about the smooth yet bold essence of Crazy Coqs that instantly drew me to it.

I debuted at Crazy Coqs not too long ago, in July 2025, with my show Cameron Bernard Jones & The Luke Bacchus Trio: Notes & Riffs On Love.

It was a jazz concert on the theme of love, and Crazy Coqs was the perfect place for it. Although it was my very first solo show, I felt so at ease because of how Crazy Coqs welcomed me.

The audience also found it to be the perfect match. I got to be vulnerable and deep, sharing intimate stories through poetry and song.

It was an inspirational space to perform in so once I finished the two-night run of it, I already knew I had to return to Crazy Coqs for more.

Guillermo: I absolutely adore it. This is my second time performing at The Crazy Coqs since my debut in 2023 — and frankly, the wait has been too long!

Cabaret venues offer a much more proximate experience than regular theatres do — for both artists and audiences.

You can feel their reactions in your very own skin and you feed from them — and it also allows for some occasional interaction, which is always good.

I think my fondest memory was premiering an original song of mine when I served as the Music Director of There Is Nothing Like A Dame, starring Peter Cummins.

And the best part is that I’ve also written a new original song especially for Cameron’s voice, which I’m so looking forward to performing.

What’s next for Wondering Soul after its residency in London, and for the two of you as individuals?

Cameron: The world is our oyster, for sure! I always have a vision of touring music around the city and/or country (and also abroad); intimate concerts that focus on storytelling.

I would absolutely love to share Wondering Soul with others all over the world. The music and poems may change but the heart of it remains the same.

Guillermo: It would be amazing to bring it to new venues and even do it again at The Crazy Coqs.

Hopefully, people will like it as much as we do and that will allow us to share the experience again and again.

It’s certainly more than a one-off event, and wishfully, it will prove itself as such.
