Singapore comedian Ting Lim’s show Asian But Wrong comes to the Edinburgh Fringe Free Festival this summer.
“As seen on Fisk (Netflix) and the Melbourne International Comedy Gala, Singaporean-born, Australia-based Ting Lim makes her Edinburgh Fringe debut, unpacking growing up in an unorthodox family and what happens when you don’t fit anywhere. Caught between strict Singaporean rules, Malaysian chaos and Australian life, Ting navigates relationships, expectations and the quiet absurdity of never quite belonging. Smart, dark and incisive without being preachy, this show finds humour in the uncomfortable space between where you’re from and where you are now.”
Where: The Wee Room at Laughing Horse @ The Three Sisters and Slice 2 at Hoots @ Hilton (Bread Street)
When: 6-30 Aug

What is the show about, and where did the idea come from?
This show is about following the rulebook you’re handed growing up, and slowly realising there was a lot of fine print missing. I didn’t set out to write this show, it evolved into this as I was writing it.
Sell the show to a potential audience in one sentence!
This show is for anyone who’s never quite felt like they belonged anywhere.
What does the Fringe mean to you, and do you have any particular memories?
This will be my first time at the Fringe, so I don’t have any memories yet. Just a lot of nervous excitement and a mountain of admin still waiting for me.
What are you looking forward to in Edinburgh?
Honestly, everything. Edinburgh looks incredible from everything I’ve seen, so I can’t wait to actually be there, meeting comedians from all over the world and performing my show to a new audience every night. It’ll be challenging, but it’s the kind of memory I know I won’t regret having.
What’s next for the show?
I will be bringing it back to Australia and touring it until it is time to write a new show.
