Currently running at the Soho Theatre to 24 Jan, Most Favoured is “a sharp and hilarious exploration of faith and loneliness in a Travelodge, directed by Soho Theatre’s Associate Director Max Elton”.
In this show focus, Alexander Arnold – who plays Mike opposite Lauren Lyle – sent us a few snippets back about appearing in the show.

It’s good to see a David Ireland comedy rounding off the year! Have you engaged with his work before?
David is an incredible playwright. Watching Cyprus Avenue I was blown away.
I also saw The Fifth Step recently and David is so brilliant at creating these grey and compelling characters and those two actors were operating at such a high level on that production.
So I’m thrilled to be a part of this show.
The play is just 45 minutes – how has it been to perform in a piece that contained?
The play is short but there’s so much to unpack and it never slows down for us as performers!
The ‘two strangers colliding’ plot has been used a lot! What should audiences expect from Most Favoured?
In many way it’s very much vintage David Ireland. There’s tension and secrets but this is also a lot of fun to do.
He’s a master at making jokes land too. There’s a lot of laugher in this show.
If you had to see the show in three words, what would they be?
Secrets. Surprises & Chicken.
And just for fun, what would be your perfect alternative Christmas? [Note: this interview was sent before Christmas but received afterwards!]
Ooh. Just for fun, I’d say going somewhere hot would be nice. Never done that before. Put me on a beach somewhere.
