Stephanie Ware tells us more about the show below.

What’s the best thing about bringing your show to Brighton Fringe?

The best thing is the excitement of bringing such a relevant and hot-topic to the fringe this year.

Both parents and non-parents have very emotional and passionate opinions on this show’s topic, and not always the way you might presume!!

Plus, it’s my first time in the iconic Bosco Theatre, so I am very excited to be part of the Spiegeltent family this year.

So, in short, the best thing is the people, the community, and the camaraderie… It’s what working in the arts is all about, and it’s a great reminder of why we do it.

Can you tell us a bit about Whoa Mama!

Whoa Mama! is an empowering hilarious fast-paced physical-comedy rollercoaster of the opinions, arguments and science behind the child-free movement.

It’s also kind of like character comedy… but everyone is me! Haha! Its fun, funny, thought-provoking and enlightening.

I have over 12 years of experience as a host, so mass audience participation plays a part, too.

What was your background before getting into theatre?

There was nothing before theatre really. I studied it at school, then I went to Drama school in London and embarked on the life of ‘being an Actor.’

Then… I gave it up because it was such a negative experience!! I moved into character-comedy and through that found the wonderful World of Cabaret!

I’ve been raising the roof of the UK’s cabaret scene as the comedy-compère Weimar Vixen: Eva Von Schnippisch for over 12 years.

In 2016 I wrote her back-story as an action-packed, one-woman musical: How Eva Von Schnippisch (Singlehandedly) Won WWII.

Winning a VAULT Festival award, 5 star reviews, and having toured the country made me realise that theatre is where I should be all along.

So I wrote the sequel How Eva Von Schnippisch Saved Hollywood and then decided to me myself for a change… and here I am with a new autobiographical one-woman show!

What’s been your favourite experience at the fringe?

My favourite experience at the fringe is always the flyering, meeting the people, and trying to sell them my show. Its a very interesting to hear people’s opinions and life-stories on it.

This is my first fringe as a Brightonian, so being a local now means I will get to experience the fringe on a whole other level! So if you see see me out and about, come and say hello!

What’s next for Whoa Mama and for Stephanie Ware?

Whoa Mama! will be at Camden Fringe later this summer – at The Hen & Chickens Theatre, Highbury & Islington (9-10 Aug).

My alter-ego Eva Von Schnippisch will be performing at Cabaret Continentale: We Still Love EU! at Brighton Spiegeltent on 10 May … and hosting the two-night circus extravaganza: The Revolver Revue at Brighton Spiegeltent on 31 May & 1  Jun.
